The Holy Great Martyr
Anastasia dedicated her life to alleviating the suffering of Christians who
were in prisons (bonds), for which she received her name - Uzorisitelnitsa
(Liberator from Bonds). The saint is depicted in a waist composition. In her
right hand she holds a red martyr's cross - a symbol of loyalty to Christ. In
her left hand she holds a vessel with healing oil (oleum) for healing the
wounds of those who suffered for the faith.
