The Mother of God is
depicted on the clouds, raised above the ground, de Vona holds a light
omophorion (veil) in her hands - a symbol of heavenly protection, intercession
and maternal work for the skin of the people. This image is traditionally
revered as a powerful talisman for the home, homeland and forefathers of
Ukraine.
