Saint Righteous Joanna
Myrrhbearer is one of the most devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, who witnessed
His suffering on the Cross and was one of the first to learn about His Bright
Resurrection, having come to the Holy Sepulcher in the morning with fragrant
myrrh. The icon depicts the saint in traditional pious attire with a vessel for
myrrh in her hand, which symbolizes her sacrificial love, loyalty and deep
faith.
Saint Joanna is the
heavenly patroness and intercessor of all women who bear the names John, Jan or
Jeanne.
