The majestic image of
the first saints canonized in Russia - the prince brothers Boris and Gleb. This
icon is a symbol of sincere brotherly love, humility and renunciation of
strife. The brothers are depicted in traditional princely attire and hats with fur
trim. In their hands they hold crosses - symbols of their martyrdom, and lean
on swords. In the upper part of the icon on the clouds is depicted the Most
Holy Theotokos, who has spread her prayerful Protection over the holy brothers.
