The image of the patron
saint of Ukraine-Rus — the Baptist of Rus, Grand Duke Volodymyr Svyatoslavich.
The Baptist of Rus is depicted in royal attire, a princely cap-crown and an
ermine mantle. In his right hand he majestically holds a large golden cross — a
symbol of the Baptism of Rus and the affirmation of the Christian faith. In the
background is a symbolic landscape with the Dnieper River, where the sacrament
of baptism took place.
