The wooden ark has an enlarged horizontal size of 30x20 cm, making it ideal for central placement in a temple, cathedral or large private collection. On the inside of the hinged lid, a detailed, deep bas-relief with the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in a miter and holy vestments is made in a round medallion. On the sides of the saint are carved figures of the Savior and the Most Holy Theotokos (the canonical plot of the "Nicaea Miracle"). The image is surrounded by luxurious carved scrolls.
