The ark is intended for ceremonial display on the lectern in churches, cathedrals and monasteries for storing capsules with the relics of holy saints of God or other church relics. The structure is equipped with a strong brass limiter-bracket, which safely holds the lid in the open position during services. The central element of the inner side of the hinged lid is a round carved icon of Nicholas the Wonderworker in bishop's vestments, with a mitre on his head, the Holy Gospel in his hands and a blessing gesture. The saint's face is surrounded by a rich floral ornament.
