The octagonal ark combines deep spiritual meaning, canonicity and high craftsmanship of wood carving. On the inside of the hinged lid there is a detailed carved bas-relief with the image of Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky in his canonical headdress (shepherd's cap) and with the Gospel in his hands. A beautiful carved inscription is applied around the circumference.
